UPDATE: Regretfully, we’ve had to cancel this class. We’ll be rescheduling it for late summer, though. If you’d like to be informed well in advance, please drop a note to education@nkg.coffee and we’ll include you on emails from our Education team. Apologies for any inconvenience, and we look forward to hosting you soon!
In August, InterAmerican Coffee moved its headquarters into the new Neumann Gruppe North America offices—the shared headquarters of InterAmerican, our sister company Rothfos Corporation and Neumann Gruppe U.S. In December, our shared Quality Control lab—a modern, custom-designed lab—was officially certified by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) as an SCA Premier Training Campus.
We’re thrilled to share that this March, we’ll offer our first Q Arabica Grader course in the Neumann Gruppe U.S. lab.
This intensive, six-day course will culminate in 20 specific exams designed to measure participants’ sensory, olfactory and cupping abilities, as well as a written exam covering general coffee knowledge. Passing the class qualifies participants as Licensed Arabica Q Graders—a globally recognized professional accreditation—as defined by the Coffee Quality Institute.
Class Specifics
The Q Grader class will be led by Gloria Pedroza, head of the Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG) Quality Service department and a certified Q Grader, Q Instructor and trainer of Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) green coffee and sensory skills classes. Gloria is also a (2006) SCAE World Cuptasting Champion! Based in Zug, Switzerland, she is the final word on quality at NKG, and she shares her time between Zug, coffee farms around the world, judging opportunities for international competitions and (occasionally) her native Guatemala.
The class will be limited to 12 students.
When: March 16–21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Neumann Gruppe U.S. Headquarters, 111 River Street. Suite 1220, Hoboken, NJ 07030
Cost: $2,000.
Deadline: The last day to enroll, while space is available, is Feb. 21, 2020, by 5 p.m. ET.
