Every year, we eagerly await the arrival of our Tanzania inventory. This sometimes-overlooked origin offers vibrant, complex coffees with the distinctive qualities we love in East African cups, often at a compelling value.
Coffee has grown commercially in Tanzania for well over a century, and today roughly 450,000 smallholders grow coffee across the country’s highlands. Yet, it remains comparatively underrepresented in specialty coffee. For buyers, that can make it an interesting alternative to more familiar East African options like Kenya, Ethiopia and Rwanda.
We purchase through our colleagues at NKG East Africa, whose relationships with farmers and producer organizations help connect us to exceptional offerings. Many of these producers also benefit from a range of services through NKG, including farm management training, quality and milling services, and sustainability support ranging from agricultural inputs to financing.

This year’s carefully selected Tanzania lots are on their way, with an expected November arrival. We hope you’ll explore the coffees below and contact your trader to reserve yours while they’re still available.
