Honduras NKG Bloom

Honduras NKG Bloom is grown by 1,934 smallholder producers across the country, all of whom are enrolled in NKG Bloom. NKG Bloom is a global initiative of Neumann Kaffee Gruppe aimed at ending the cycle of poverty in the coffee supply chain by empowering producers to run their farms at full potential and maximize their net incomes. On the ground, NKG exporter Becamo’s Unit for Sustainable Services to Producers (USSP) assesses producers’ specific needs and provides them with custom service packages. Importantly, the USSP engages with farmers who are struggling to meet sustainability standards so that every earnest effort and improvement is encouraged.

Honduras NKG Bloom coffees come from a number of different producing regions across the country. Each lot is traceable to a different regional producer group — ask your trader for details.

Additionally, NKG Bloom seeks to broaden producers’ access to markets with an emphasis on sustainable and premium markets in particular.

NKG Bloom & RCM

NKG Bloom in Honduras has its roots in an effort known as Recuperando Mi Cafetal (Recovering My Coffee Fields). This comprehensive project was launched in 2015 by NKG export company Becamo in the wake of the rust crisis. Its aim was to revitalize coffee plantations with certified, eco-friendly coffee varieties. Through the RMC infrastructure, producers benefit from access to Ecopil coffee plants, which are grown in cylinders made of substrate, organic matter, and a biodegradable paper mesh. This innovative method allows the coffee plants to develop strong root systems before being transplanted. As a result, the plants are healthier and produce higher yields.
