4 Things to Know About InterAmerican’s New Headquarters

May 3, 2019

InterAmerican has a brand-new headquarters in the making! And while these are still early days, we’ve been looking forward to sharing our plans and the thinking behind them. Here are the four most important things to know about this change:

First, we’ll definitely still have our offices in San Diego, Providence and Houston (in January, our Houston team moved to a beautiful and more event-accommodating new space in Houston’s historic Old Sixth Ward). So, this newest office—on the riverfront in Hoboken, N.J., overlooking lower Manhattan—will be our fourth location.

Second, we’ll be sharing the headquarters with one of our sister companies in the Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG), Rothfos Corporation. A New York native, Rothfos was founded in 1991, had an office in White Plains for 19 years, and has been in New York City, in Penn Plaza, for nearly a decade.

Third, while we’ll be sharing a space, we will still be absolutely separate companies, focused on our respective, industry-acknowledged strengths.

Our decision to share a headquarters is a way for us to address changes in the industry, particularly consolidations that are putting everyone’s margins under pressure. By sharing back-office functions such as accounting, human resources and logistics, we can lower costs and remain more competitive for our customers and our suppliers. Plus, having more open lines of communication is a great way to see new perspectives, be more creative problem solvers and stay overall more informed. Which, again, benefits everyone.

In short, we think it’s the most intelligent, resourceful and respectful way for us to conduct business in today’s coffee industry.

Fourth and lastly, we’re planning to make this office unlike any of our others. It’ll feature a state-of-the-art cupping lab, and we’re in the process of making it an SCA Premier Training Campus, where we’ll host classes, monthly cuppings and other great and ongoing learning events. We hope the tri-state area coffee community (and beyond) will think of our River Street office as their go-to learning space and know they’re always welcome there.

We’re currently looking at a late-summer move-in date, so photos and housewarming invitations are still a bit away. But we’re enormously excited for these changes, and we plan to keep you in the loop every step of the way.
