March is Women’s Month, and March 8 marks International Women’s Day. We’re thrilled to celebrate with an exciting selection of women-produced coffees! Around the world, women — especially in producing countries — often face unequal rights, pay and representation. Yet they remain the backbone of their families, communities and family-run businesses.
As we celebrate these beautiful coffees, we also honor the incredible and often unsung work of women around the world. We hope you’ll join us in recognizing their contributions!
Colombia ANEI Mujeres Tejedoras Fairtrade Organic
Colombia ANEI Mujeres Tejedoras Fairtrade Organic, translates as women weavers. This nod to traditional handcraft also acknowledges the way that women’s work is inextricably intertwined with the community, forming its very fabric. “We knit the future in community and in harmony with nature,” the group says. ANEI was founded by Aurora Izquierdo, one of the first women to leave her Arhuaco home for higher education.

Mexico NKG Bloom Zongolica
Mexico NKG Bloom Zongolica is also called WPZ — “Woman Power Zongolica!” — by the 20 women in Veracruz who originally grew and produced it. (Proudly, it has since expanded to 75 women.) Coffee farms in Zongolica are agro-ecosystems, meaning they take into account the impact of farming beyond the farm and work to balance the energy and nutrients needed to preserve the region’s biodiversity. Intercropping and forest conservation are among the practiced tactics.
Cupping notes: Caramel, black currant, nectarine.

Honduras NKG Bloom Gea Organic
Honduras NKG Bloom Gea Organic is named for Greek mythology’s goddess-mother of all creation. Our colleagues at NKG Becamo chose the name to honor the women producer they work with, many of whom are single parents, caring for their farms and their families. The producers of Gea (as well as WPZ) are enrolled in NKG Bloom, an initiative to ensure the long-term viability of green coffee supplies and provide smallholder farmers with the resources they need to run their farms at full potential and enter pathways out of poverty.
Cupping notes: Dulce de leche, almond, yellow apple.
